PWP mindfully researches real needs in Haiti to determine what course to take when initiating new, or retaining established projects. Meticulous and ongoing attention is given to evaluating our efforts to assure our investments are bearing fruit that will last.
Years of participation in a constellation of projects in Haiti has resulted in PWP’s resolute conviction that education and employment initiatives with the focus on women generate some of the greatest, estimable life changing results for Haitians. This is definitely where the heart of PWP lies.
We are sensitive to the fact that there is a concurrent need for relief aid of all kinds in Haiti at this time. Many groups are enlisted in endless, valiant efforts to keep Haitians alive day after day. However, PWP also believes that there needs to be a shift of focus for many in the development community to seeking ventures that foster sustainable changes. Endless relief will remain endless without this redirection of thought from the grassroots small N.G.O. level all the way up to the International Development organizations.
"The goal of relief is survival. The goal of development is the sustained improvement of the quality of life."
- Dale Snyder
In his Pulitzer Prize winning work to unearth, expose and chronicle poverty issues among women around the globe, Nicholas Kristof is quick to point out that education and employing women in developing countries is the greatest weapon to fight poverty and injustice. It is from educating ourselves with the works of amazing people like Kristof, who have devoted their lives to debunking the myths of what is believed to help the poor and further offering the truth of what actually arbitrates calculable change that PWP reflects on when we determine what projects to invest in.
Our goal is always to build relationships and nurture partnerships that positively affect people and our planet. We welcome new partners who have a vision to become part of the PWP team and cherish those who have stood in solidarity with us for over a decade.
